Mr. Edward “Corky” Corwin Ecklin, II, age 77, a resident of Chocowinity, NC died Saturday May 12, 2018 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday May 15, 2018 at Oakdale Cemetery of Washington officiated by Rev. Jim Reed. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mr. Ecklin was born in Beaufort County on July 3, 1940 son of the late Edward Corwin Ecklin, Sr. and the late Paulene Tayloe Alligood. He was a 1958 graduate of Rocky Mount Senior High School. Following high school, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Strategic Air Command. Following his military service, he earned his Business degree at Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College. On December 18, 1966 he married the former Sylvia H. Barrett who survives. Mr. Ecklin retired with IBM Corporation on November 30, 1996 as a Senior Financial Analyst. He was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving along with his wife, Sylvia, of the home includes a daughter: Laura Ecklin Harris and her husband Christopher of Richmond, VA; a sister: Polly Ecklin Avery and her husband Jerry of Rocky Mount and two grandchildren: Ashley and Bailey Harris.
