A Plymouth man has been charged with safe-cracking and stealing $6,000 from the Cyber Internet Cafe in Columbia on May 8, Tyrrell Sheriff Darryl Liverman reported.

At 11:15 a.m. that day the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 80B L.A. Keiser Dr. in Columbia, where the Cyber Internet Café is located, and the owners reported that $6,000 cash was missing.

The responding deputy reviewed the surveillance video and obtained warrants for Torey L. Hudson, 31, of Plymouth for felony breaking and entering, felonious larceny and safe cracking.

Deputies interviewed witnesses and, as a result, Hudson turned himself in at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Plymouth where he was served with the warrants.

Hudson was placed in the Washington County Detention Center on a $75,000 secured bond.

Hudson had a first appearance in Washington County District Court on May 10. The bond was reduced to $30,000 secured, and Hudson made bond, the sheriff reported.

His court date in Columbia is June 28.
