On May 14, 124 golfers participated in 18 holes of golf at the Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, to raise funds for Combat Warriors Inc. The event was hosted by WIMCO Corp, a commercial construction company based out of Washington since 1950.

Combat Warriors Inc. is an organization run by a board of hardworking volunteers with a heart for serving our combat warriors. They use donated funding to organize and promote dozens of events annually where they gather groups of combat warriors for local hunting and fishing trips, as well as support them and their families during times of need.

“For this being our first fundraising event, it was a huge success! The golf course was in spectacular condition, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s event. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped put it together. We couldn’t have done it without you,” said Kevin Rawls, president of WIMCO Corp.

We understand that these soldiers live at the point of the sword, with a toll measured by both body and soul. We embrace the reality that no civilian can fully understand the trials and difficulties faced by our soldiers. But we know of the healing power of a sunrise over Pamlico Sound, and a turkey’s wild hymn to the springtime woods. And we commit to our veterans our time and talents and passions, to share in silence or wild, heartfelt, healing laughter.

“Our soldiers live at the point of the sword, how dare us not to help,” Rawls said.

A huge thank you goes out to the sponsors and participants who helped make the first annual WIMCO Corp Combat Warriors Fundraiser Golf Tournament a successful event. For more information visit wimcocorp.com/wimco-blog/ or combatwarriorsinc.org.
