Mrs. Doris Maxine Fryman Herwig, age 91, a resident of Chocowinity, NC died Tuesday June 12, 2018 at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday June 14, 2018 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

Mrs. Herwig was born on March 10, 1927 in Houston Texas to the late James Fulton Fryman and Beatrice Slay Fryman. On October 15, 1948 she married William “Bill” Herwig who preceded her in death on August 11, 2014. She was a square dancer for over 30 years. Mrs. Herwig enjoyed crocheting, going to ball games for grandchildren and great grandchildren, shopping for shoes and earrings, she was always on the move. Above all else she loved being “Granny.”

Survivors include her daughter Wanda H. Hardy and husband A.B. of Chocowinity, six grandchildren, Brian Potter and wife Holly, Brad Potter and wife Sandy, Jamie Overton and wife Sandy, Trey Overton and wife Erica, Lori Roberson and husband Brandon, Christie Hardy, and eleven great grandchildren, Nicholas, Allison, Lindsey, Justin, Leah, Landon, Jaxsan, Makenna, Brody, Braxton, and London.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Linda Potter, a brother, Ralph Fryman, and a sister Peggy Wilke.
