Beaufort County Community College observed its’ GED/High School Equivalence graduation on May 15th, 2018.  During the ceremony, the Director of College and Career Readiness, Mrs. Heather Collins presented a special award to Ms. Janet Bowser.  Ms. Bowser was honored with the ” 2017-2018 Eve Ide Instructor of the Year Award ” in recognition of excellence in teaching and exemplary contribution to student success.  Ms. Bowser is an Educational Instructor at Tyrrell Prison Work Farm, Columbia, N.C. where she teaches, Reading, Science, Social Studies, Writing and Mathematics.  She has graduated over 200 inmates during her tenure there.  It is her hope that the efforts and accomplishments acquired will reduce recidivism and promote productive lives among her students.  Her class motto is “Can’t Is Not An Option”
