Saturday Night Jamboree holds annual prom

The Saturday Night Jamboree held its 46th annual Spring Prom recently at the Redmen’s Lodge in Washington. Keeper of the door Russell Jefferson kept a watchful eye outside.

Registrar Carolyn Jefferson signed in 114 clients while faithful volunteers Tillie Braddy and Kathy Lilley pinned on corsages and boutonnieres with loving assistance from Joyce Carawan.

The Lodge was transformed into a wonderful flower garden earlier in the day by Michael Cutler, Kaitlyn, Tillie, Elwood Sprouse, Jim and Tine Sadler. The Jamboree would like to thank The Shalom House for all the wonderful, beautiful ferns they sent. The prom would not look so festive without them.

Jamboree Elwood Sprouse led the activities, while Photographer Michael Cutler, with assistance from Kaitlyn Cutler, James and Tine Sadler, and Marian Harrington took photographs of each client in front of a beautiful display. The photos were developed and passed out by Jim Sadler at the Jamboree meeting.

A special thank you to The Little Creek Band, who provided music for the Prom. Following a blessing asked by Bobby Windley, members of The Warren Chapel United Methodist Church from Blount’s Creek prepared and served canned drinks and bagged refreshments. Those helping with serving included: Rev. Betty Jo Rodgers, Jonell Barber, Carla Berg, Nancy E. and Shawn Bennett, Ernest Cutler, Jesse and Juanita Tripp, Gilbert and Linda Tripp, Maria, Tripp, Kaelynn, Carl, and “Sissy” Dunn.

All area mentally/-physically-challenged residents and all volunteers are invited to attend. For more Jamboree information, to volunteer or to make donations, please call Jamboree President Marlene Sprouse at 229-7831.
