Velma Rae Deal

Velma Rae Deal, age 68, a resident of 60 Highway 33 East, Aurora, died Tuesday, July 10, 2018.
A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, at South Creek Missionary Baptist Church in South Creek, officiated by Pastor David Linton. Burial followed in the Deal Cemetery on Cayton Landing Road off Spring Creek Road in Aurora. Butch Coe, Joseph Bonner, Christopher Bonner, J.T. Theriot, Steve Jennings and Hunter Edwards served as pallbearers.
Velma was born in Beaufort County on July 27, 1949 the daughter of the late Earl E. Deal, Sr. and Ola Rae Parnell Deal, who survives.
She graduated from Aurora High School in 1967. Velma began her career with Wachovia Bank in Aurora and later started her own domestic cleaning business. Velma was sought after by many to administer to their domestic needs and she did so for as long as her health allowed. She was a founding member of the Aurora Junior Women’s Club and worked diligently to support all of their activities. She played softball in the Aurora league and was quite an athlete. Velma was a member of the South Creek Missionary Baptist Church from early childhood and recently reconnected with members at their homecoming this past May. She loved vegetable and flower gardening, spending time at the local river basking in the sun, and enjoyed spending time with her good friends. Velma always had a smile, a bubbly laugh and a joke to share with everyone, she never met a stranger. She will be sorely missed by her many friends and family members.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter: Michelle Leigh Coe, (Bobby Wiggs) of Jacksonville, NC; Dennis “Tiny” Mills, life partner of the home, two sisters: Doris Deal Snell (Bill) of Picayune, Mississippi; Betty Deal Sandow (Sammy) of Washington, NC; brother Earl E. Deal, Jr. (Theresa) of Arapahoe, NC; two grandsons Jason and Aaron Wiggs both of Jacksonville, NC; two granddaughters: Jillian and Logan Wiggs both of Jacksonville, NC; her faithful canine companion Zoie, her aunt: Nancy Jones of Blounts Creek, NC; uncle Sidney A. Parnell of Phoenix, AZ. and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family received friends from 2 p.m. until the service hour prior to the service at South Creek Missionary Baptist Church and at other times at her mother’s home located at 1626 Spring Creek Road, Aurora.
