BATH — In June, Isabela Fisher, the daughter of Wayne Fisher and Leigh Humen of Bath, joined outstanding elementary school students from across the nation to take part in a unique academic and career-oriented development experience, National Youth Leadership Forum: Explore STEM in Winston Salem.

NYLF Explore STEM is part of the Envision family of programs that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom. Fisher was nominated to attend the forum by her previous Bath Elementary School principal, Pamela Hodges, who has since retired.

In addition to achieving straight A’s, Fisher also attends the school’s gifted program known as Academically or Intellectually Gifted. She has also participated in Lego Robotics and Mathletes, excelling in both programs. Fisher enjoys playing soccer via the Optimist Club in Washington and has performed in show choir for several years with Neva Cashion’s Inner Banks Music Academy.

Fisher is currently interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement, art or baking. Regardless of what she decides, she knows she wants to help and inspire people to do what they love, despite any negative paths life may take them down.

“NYLF Explore STEM is a great opportunity for high-achieving scholars to get outside the classroom and see, through hands-on interactive learning, how to innovate and think creatively,” said Andrew Potter, chief academic officer for Envision. “These students, who have already proven themselves academically, will be challenged to work on real-world, student-created projects to bring their studies and career interests to life.”

Since 1985, Envision programs have served more than 800,000 students in more than 145 countries, with programs designed to help students develop the leadership, scholarship and career skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive college and career landscape.
