The CATS (Children are Tomorrow’s Strength) Program that served approximately 60 Tyrrell County Schools students ages 7-12 concluded July 18.

Under the guidance of their summer CATS counselors, students participated in activities that focused on character education, anti-bullying, conflict resolution, self-esteem, abstinence to drugs and alcohol and cooperative team activities.

At the conclusion of each week, students participated in a fun camp activity that was held on campus or a field trip.

On July 12, the CATS Program hosted a fun Carnival Day on the Tyrrell Elementary School campus. Included were carnival games, carnival foods (cotton candy, popcorn, funnel cakes, flavored ice), bounce houses and water play including a large blow-up water slide.

The CATS students and staff had a wonderful day, and they shout out a huge Thank You to all the school system employees who volunteered to help make this event a success.
