ENGELHARD – The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles License Plate Agency in Hyde Co. will re-open for business at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18.

The agency, located at 34910 U.S. Highway 264 in Engelhard, has been closed since June 4 following the sudden passing of longtime former contractor R.S. Spencer III.  Spencer’s wife, Jo Ann Spencer, will operate the agency under a temporary contract until a permanent contractor is named.  The office will operate Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will be closed for lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

The division is currently seeking applicants to operate the Hyde County license plate agency (LPA).

Completed applications must be returned to NCDMV no later than Friday, Aug. 3, 2018.  The applications (Form MVR-93 or Form MVR-93AA) are located on the Connect NCDOT website. Interested applicants may call 919-615-6053 with questions.

LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, 126 license plate agencies operate across North Carolina.
