Published 6:14 pm Friday, August 10, 2018

Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit www.petango.com/beaufortcountyNC, visit ENC Shelter Dogs, ENC Shelter Cats and Washington Cat Rescue on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. The Humane Society of Beaufort County can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BeaufortCountyNCHumaneSociety.

Requests for more information with regard to the animals appearing in Pets of the Week may be directed to shelter staff in person at the shelter during business hours or by emailing animal.control@co.beaufort.nc.us — always use the animal’s ID number.

Please note, the shelter is closed on the first Wednesday of each month for cleaning and maintenance.

Tiger

Sweet, friendly and approximately 1 year old, this large boy is listed as a retriever mix. He wears a gorgeous brindle coloring pattern coat, often described as tiger stripes because it resembles the black stripes on a tiger. This nice dog needs owner(s) who will take him with them on their outings, give him love, attention, exercise — play included — in a fenced area or on a leash.  He deserves a good, loving forever home, where he will be a faithful companion and pet. Come meet Tiger, ID No. 1231, and see for yourself what a wonderful dog he is. He’s available at the shelter.

Sunshine

This beautiful approximately 8-month- to 1-year-old tabby girl wears an American shorthair coat that’s to be studied and admired. Pale apricot blends with light butterscotch morphing into buff, ebony and dark brown stripes to create artistic accents. Facial features include huge eyes, accents of white (that also appear on her toes) and a little triangle nose.

With a friendly, calm and gentle nature, Sunshine will be a welcome addition in a variety of good forever, loving, home settings. Once there, she will blossom into a true companion and pet. Sunshine’s ID is No. 1224. Come meet her — she is available at the shelter.
