CRESWELL — Mary Mann Spear, 85, of Creswell died Saturday, December 1, 2018 at her residence in Creswell.

Born July 9, 1933 in Tyrrell County she was the daughter of the late David Moses Mann and Mary Frances Phelps Man and was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy M. Davenport and brother, Jennings R. Mann. Mary was a homemaker and member of Philippi Church of Christ.

Her family includes her husband, James Edward Spear of Creswell, N.C.; daughters, Darinda K. Spear of Richmond, Va. and Cindy S. Mariano and husband Ronald of Portsmouth, Va.; sons, James L. Spear and wife Daphne of Roper, N.C., Don W. Spear and wife Patty, Rondy C. Spear and wife Christine and Dale E. Spear all of Creswell, N.C.; sisters, Katie M. Phelps of Franklin, Va., Shirley M. Walker of Corapeake, N.C. and Starlyn M. Ambrose of Creswell, N.C.; brother, John M. Mann of Cookeville, TN.; seventeen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Philippi Church of Christ Cemetery, Creswell with Jimmy Davenport officiating. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell and other times at the residence.
