Bobby and Myrtle Mitchell, ages 101 and 97 respectively, celebrated their 79th wedding anniversary with their son Fred, his family, and other relatives and friends at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Columbia on Dec. 9. Except for his years in the Navy during World War II, the couple has lived in Tyrrell County since their marriage on Dec. 7, 1939.
