Vladimir Ion Rolinsky

Vladimir Ion Rolinsky, age 85, a resident of Washington, died Feb. 19, 2019, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital. A private service will be held at a later time.
Mr. Rolinsky was born Jan. 28, 1934, in Butesti, Kingdom of Romania. Due to a teacher shortage, he started work as a math teacher at the age of 17 and earned a BS degree in mathematics and physics from Ion Creanga State University in Chisnau, Moldova in 1957. During a 60-year career in education, Mr. Rolinsky worked both as a mathematics teacher and school administrator. He served as Public School Superintendent of Ocnita Region of the Republic of Moldova from 1987 to 2001. Mr. Rolinsky wrote numerous articles in professional journals and authored three mathematics textbooks for middle school students published by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova. He received numerous awards for excellence in his educational work and received the distinction of being named an Honored Person of the Republic of Moldova by the national government.
Mr. Rolinsky was elected by the voters of Ocnita region in 1999 as a member of Regional Council, in which office he served until 2003.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Alexandra Rolinsky, of Washington; one daughter, Victoria Rolinsky-Rader and husband Steve, of Washington; one son, Dr. Emil Rolinschi and wife Dr. Tatiana, of Tirnaveni, Romania; three grandchildren, Tudor Rolinsky Rader and wife Mariana, of Washington, Ion Rolinschi, of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and Dr. Anna Rolinschi, of Amsterdam, Netherlands; and one great-grandchild, Tudor M. Rolinsky Rader, of Washington.
