Mamie Ange Nobles

Mrs. Mamie Ange Nobles, a resident of Pantego, died Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington, officiated by Craig Hagen. Burial will follow in Yeatesville Cemetery in Pinetown. Dr. Dempsy M. Ange III, Dr. Eric van Heugten, Dennis Webster, Peyton LaBleu, Ryan van Heugten, Connor van Heugten and Todd Norfleet will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mamie was born in Beaufort County, daughter of the late Lloyd Sylvester Tetterton and the late Lucy Elizabeth Watson Tetterton. She was a 1944 graduate of Bath High School and continued her education at Beaufort Tech. in their cosmetology program. Later, she attended Beaufort County Community College’s nursing assistant program. Mrs. Mamie was the owner/operator of Summerset Beauty Shop at her home in Pantego. After earning her nursing assistant credentials, she worked at Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven and Beaufort County Hospital in Washington. On May 13, 1949, she married Dempsy Maryland Ange, Sr., who preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1976. In 1996, she married Robert David Nobles, who survives. Mrs. Mamie was a member of St. Clair’s Church of Christ. Her greatest joy in life was being with her family.

Surviving along with her husband, Robert, of the home, is a son, Dempsy M. Ange, Jr. (Betty), of Belhaven; a daughter, Patricia A. Norfleet (Todd), of Chesapeake, Virginia; a step-daughter, Candy LeBleu (Peyton), of Hubert; a sister, Ruby T. Slade, of Washington; three grandchildren, Dr. Dempsy M. Ange III and friend Melissa, of Pantego, Dr. Kimberly A. van Heugten (Dr. Eric van Heugten), of Cary, and Tiffany R. Webster (Dennis), of Pinetown; two step-grandchildren, Ashley Alejandro, of Georgia, and Elizabeth Miller, of El Paso, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Connor, Cailey and Tyler van Heugten, Caden Webster and Catherine Carlson; and many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mamie was predeceased, along with her parents, by a daughter, Cheryle Jean Ange; a sister, Mary Gurganus; and three brothers, Julius Tetterton, J.T. Tetterton and Lloyd Nicholson Tetterton.
