Audrey Whines Phelps, 92, of Roper died Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Vidant Chowan Hospital in Edenton.

Born December 31, 1926 in London, England she was the daughter of the late Frederick Walter Whines and Margaret Olive Guilland Whines and was preceded in death by her husband, Abe Harrison Phelps; son, Gerald Vance Phelps; great grandson, Deacon Brody Phelps; son-in-law, Curtis Smith and brother, Gerald Frederick Whines. Mrs. Phelps was a homemaker and member of Plymouth Church of Christ.

Her family includes her daughters, Carol Phelps Smith of Roper, N.C. and Barbara Phelps Bateman and husband Richard of Edenton, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Mary Louise Phelps of Edenton; sons, Gary Allan Phelps and wife Joyce of Roper, N.C. and Michael Anthony Phelps and wife Suzanne of Roper, N.C.; eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Monday, March 11, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Plymouth Church of Christ with Jay Hardison officiating. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens in Columbia. Family will receive friends on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 1 to 1:45 pm at the church and other times at the residence of her daughter Carol.
