Emergency Services issues update on today’s coastal storm

Beaufort County Emergency Services is alerting residents about the coastal storm heading into the region today. According to Chris Newkirk, chief of fire/emergency management, the following weather is expected:

  • Sustained winds between 18 and 25 mph, with gusts of 35 to 40 mph possible today. We are forecasted to experience our highest winds between noon and 8 p.m.
  • We are expecting to receive 1 ½ inches of rain between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. today.

Beaufort County Emergency Services will continue to monitor this system and pass along any developments.
