Dianne Brinkley Catlett

Dianne Brinkley Catlett, 75, of Archdale, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019.

She was born Aug. 27, 1943, in New Hanover County, to Raeford and Pearl Beck Brinkley. She received her undergraduate degree in Library Science, and a master’s degree in Library Science and Adult Education from East Carolina University, and went on to attend the course of study at Duke University. She was a minister in the Eastern North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, serving churches in eastern North Carolina for several years, and also served as a lecturer at East Carolina University, and as director of Brown Library in Washington.  She and her husband relocated to the Archdale area about 12 years ago.

She is survived by her husband of 56 plus years, Roy B. Catlett; her daughters, Dena Catlett Brown (Kenneth), Elizabeth “Libby” Catlett Griffin (Phillip); her mother, Pearl Beck Brinkley; her sisters, Linda Myers (Bradford), Nancy Jones (Rick), and Kathy Woods. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kristin Brown Kamberger (Jeremy), Michael Brown, Erin Griffin, Thomas Griffin, Zane Griffin, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Dianne’s life will be held on Saturday afternoon, April 20, 2019, at 2 o’clock, from the Archdale United Methodist Church, with Rev. Allan Van Meter and Rev. Harold Shives officiating. The committal service will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon, from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m., in the Wesley Room, at Archdale United Methodist Church.
