Plenty of Easter events coming up this weekend

The Easter Bunny is going to be mighty busy this coming weekend, with egg hunts, a parade and all manner of festivities throughout Beaufort County.

FRIDAY

The weekend’s events kick off on Friday night at Washington Assembly of God, where the church will host a glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt in conjunction with its monthly Food Truck Friday event. The evening’s festivities run from 6 to 9 p.m.,  with a sunrise service, family breakfast and Easter worship service running from 6:30 a.m. to noon at the church on Sunday.

That same night, First United Methodist Church in Washington will host a Walk to the Cross Event at the FUMC Parsonage at 107 Bath Circle in Washington. Contact Pastor Stephen Bazan at 919-464-0264 or call the church office at 252-946-3311 if you have any questions.

SATURDAY

On Saturday morning and afternoon, downtown Washington will be abuzz with activity, starting with at 10 a.m., with a parade down Main Street at 11 a.m. Participants are invited to show off their Easter finery throughout, and enjoy a special appearance from the Easter Bunny. The event will feature a classic movie, “Easter Parade,” on continuous play at the Turnage Theatre, as well as street entertainment and an egg hunt at participating downtown merchants.

At noon, the helicopter egg drop, a more aeronautic take on the traditional Easter egg hunt will take place at Washington-Warren Airport. This event was postponed from last Saturday due to bad weather.

In Belhaven, River Forest Manor and Marina will host an egg hunt in conjunction with local churches at 10 a.m. The event will feature activities for kids ages 10 and younger, with a special appearance by the Easter Bunny.

Guests are invited to participate in the 2019 Spring Celebration at Raised in a Barn Farm in Chocowinity, from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The event will feature Easter egg hunts, hayrides and photos with the Easter Bunny.

At Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Chocowinity, a pair of events will take place over the weekend. An egg hunt for kids ages 12 and younger will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, followed by Easter Sunday services on April 21 at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Parents can register their children at unionchapelchildrensministry.weebly.com/easter-egg-hunt-2019.

SUNDAY

While churches throughout Beaufort County will have their own Easter services to numerous to list, Harbor Church will host its annual sunrise service at Washington’s Festival Park at 7 a.m.
