Severe weather threat projected for Thursday afternoon

The National Weather service is forecasting an increased risk of severe weather for Thursday afternoon in eastern North Carolina. Possible impacts include severe thunderstorms, damaging winds between 60-70 miles per hour, large hail and isolated tornadoes. Storms are most likely from 4 p.m. to midnight today.
“Confidence is increasing that numerous severe thunderstorms will be possible across eastern North Carolina late this afternoon into tonight, mainly between 4 pm and midnight,” wrote Casey Dail, with the National Weather Service. “Moderate to significant impacts will be possible. The main threat will be damaging wind gusts 60-70 miles per hour.”
