From Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center

The Shepard Cancer Foundation will host its first ever Ball Drop fundraiser on Nov. 16 at Washington Warren Field Airport from 10 a.m. until noon. The Foundation’s mission is to financially support the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center in its efforts to improve the mind, body and spirit of cancer patients, survivors and caregivers as well as promote prevention and early detection of cancer.

The Cancer Center prides itself on supporting its patients and their caregivers through every step of their cancer journey. Funds raised by the Foundation help provide support for a patient assistance fund, integrative therapies such as restorative yoga and massage as well as support programs for patients and families. Funds raised also support efforts related to prevention and early detection of cancer such as free breast and skin cancer screenings and educational programs.

Those interested can purchase a golf ball(s)/tickets in advance at the Cancer Center located at 1209 N. Brown St. or at Stewart’s Jewelry Store in downtown Washington. Tickets are $20 each or three for $50. The helicopter will drop the golf balls at 11 a.m. and the one closest to the bullseye wins $1,000! The event will also feature free health and wellness screenings, performing skydivers and lunch provided by Bill’s Hot Dogs.
