Salvation Army seeking volunteer bell ringers
Published 7:37 pm Wednesday, November 20, 2019
The Salvation Army of Washington is looking for volunteers — individuals and groups — to ring the bells at the red kettles this Christmas season. The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign is a critical fundraiser for the organization’s Christmas assistance and year-round programs that address social concerns in the community.
Volunteer opportunities are available from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays through Dec. 24. To volunteer, please contact Denise Cahoon at 252-946-2523.
Last year The Salvation Army of Washington raised over $50,000 in the Red Kettle Campaign. This money helped the community through social service programs that assist those in need.
“The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign is a valued tradition in our community,” said Lt. Karl Bush, corps officer of The Salvation Army of Washington. “A little change from someone’s pocket keeps the lights on for struggling families, provides nutritious food for the hungry, and pays the rent when personal disaster strikes. A season of change can truly create a year of hope.”
Since 1865, The Salvation Army has preached the gospel of Jesus Christ and worked to meet human needs in his name without discrimination. Today, The Salvation Army serves in every state in the United States and more than 129 countries throughout the world. The Salvation Army has many programs that address social concerns in our community, which include utility and rent assistance, nutrition services, Christmas assistance, worship, disaster relief and youth programming.
