Michael Edward “Jake” Woolard

Michael Edward “Jake” Woolard, age 61, of Washington, passed away Dec. 19, 2019, at his home.

He was born on Feb. 8, 1958, to Jahue and Dorothy Woolard. Jake graduated from Bath High School. He worked as a commercial fisherman for most of his life. His greatest enjoyment in life aside from fishing was spending time with his neighbors and friends of Duck Creek Shores. He was a member of the Winds of Change Church in Bath.

He was preceded in death by father, Jahue Woolard, and mother, Dorothy Woolard.

Michael is survived by his brother, Darrell Woolard and his wife, Phyllis, of Blounts Creek; two nephews, Ryan Woolard, of Raleigh, and Ross Woolard, of Jacksonville. Also surviving is his beloved cat, Tiger.

A graveside memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at the Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, with Harris Ray Alligood officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice.

Washington Funeral & Cremation is handling the arrangements for the Woolard family.
