Published 7:15 pm Friday, January 17, 2020

The Shelter will be closed Saturday through Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit www.petango.com/beaufortcountyNC, visit ENC Shelter Dogs and ENC Shelter Cats on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. The Humane Society of Beaufort County can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BeaufortCountyNCHumaneSociety.

Requests for more information with regard to the animals appearing in Pets of the Week may be directed to shelter staff in person at the shelter during business hours or by emailing animal.control@co.beaufort.nc.us — always use the animal’s ID number.

Please note, the shelter is closed on the first Wednesday of each month for cleaning and maintenance.

Jane

At approximately 2 years old, Jane, an American shorthair tabby, is a delightful girl all dressed up in her beautiful pale orange and darker red-striped coat. From the classic “M” on her forehead to the rings of color around her tail, she’s a gorgeous tabby. Jane is friendly, lovable, loving and calm, and she will be a wonderful and welcome addition in a good, loving forever home. For more about Jane, ID No. 0020, see Facebook’s Friends of Beaufort County Shelter Cats Page. Pay her a visit — you’ll be glad you did.

Betsy

Sweet, friendly, gentle, mild-natured and beautiful just begins to describe this girl. Betsy is listed as medium-size, approximately 11-month-old, tricolor — white, tan and black — coonhound mix. She will do best with family/owner(s) who be attentive and kind, take her with them on their outings, give exercise/play — preferably in a fenced area or on a leash, give her some obedience training and, of course, a good forever home. For more about Betsy, (ID No. 0019) see Facebook’s ENC Shelter Dogs page. Come meet her; she’s available at the shelter.
