Miss Paul was born in Washington on Aug. 26, 1949, and resided on East Ninth Street for 42 years. She was the daughter of the late Phillip L. Paul and Lucille Oden Adams Paul. Her father was the Chief of Police for the City of Washington during the 1960s, and her mother was a homemaker who was involved in various clubs, civic organizations and charities.
Miss Paul was a 1969 graduate of Washington High School. She was a longtime member of the First Church of Christ in Washington.
Miss Paul is survived by many cousins and friends who loved her. She also leaves behind her loving family of friends and caregivers at Autumnfield of Belhaven whom she shared her daily life with for the last 28 years. Sarah Kay will be missed by all who knew her, and she will be remembered for her loving, generous nature, her funny expressions and her thoughtfulness of others. She enjoyed sharing what little she had and made a habit of giving away any money or gifts that she received to her friends. Over much of her lifetime, one of her favorite pastimes was writing letters and greeting cards and sending to her family and friends. She had an excellent memory for dates, and she could recite each loved one’s day and year of birth.
