Mrs. Anna L. Foster, 84, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, at Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice, after a brief illness.

A memorial graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Pinewood Memorial Park, with Pastor Greg Kennedy officiating.

A native of Pell City, Alabama, Anna was born to the late Robert and Annie Mae Griffin Hurst. She received her RN training from Carraway Methodist Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, and worked as a Registered Nurse for many years. She married Billy B. Foster on June 12, 1960, and they made their home first in Birmingham and then in Waverly, Tennessee. Upon their relocation to North Carolina in 1972, Anna continue her nursing career working at both Beaufort and Martin County Hospitals prior to her retirement. She was a member of Oakmont Baptist Church.

Mrs. Foster will be fondly remembered for her love of family, her grandchildren, as well as her grand dogs. She also enjoyed shopping and will be well-remembered for her famous cornbread that no one seems to be able to duplicate. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Mrs. Foster will be fondly remembered by the many who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by a son, Joseph David Foster; sisters, Louise Tidwell, Elizabeth Burton, Mary Alice Brown and Jean Johnson; and brother, Charles Brown.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Billy B. Foster, of Greenville; daughter Allison Foster, of Winterville; son Judge Jeff Foster and wife Jean, of Winterville; grandson Zachary C. Foster, of Maryland; and granddaughter Claire E. Foster, of Durham.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to loyal friends Lola Dixon and Leckie and Anita Langley, as well as to the kind and caring staff of the Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice.
