Garfield Woolard

Mr. Garfield Woolard, age 89, a resident of Pinetown, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020, at his home.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens and will be officiated by William Ray Askew.

Garfield was born in Beaufort County on Oct. 26, 1930, to the late Charlie L. Woolard and Lydia W. Woolard. On Oct. 29, 1948, he married Josephine Woolard. Garfield loved farming and owned Pam’s Diner for 21 years. He also enjoyed commercial fishing “shrimping” and carpentry work. He had a passion for mowing and working on his fishpond. Garfield loved his animals especially Annie, Chubby and his cat Bonkers.

Garfield is survived by his daughters, Vicki Woolard (Doug), Phyllis Hewitt (Ruffin); four grandchildren, Billy Ray Waters, Jeremy Hewitt, Melissa Perry, Samantha Clark; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Hugh Woolard; and a special friend, Ronnie Lawrence.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Josephine Woolard; a daughter, Judy Alligood; two sisters, Amanda Woolard, Peggy Black; and a brother, Gary Woolard.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
