Mr. Barney Ray Waters, age 61, owner and operator of East Carolina Plumbing, died Sunday, March 15, 2020, at his home.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2020, at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, conducted by Don Edwards.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Jonathan Waters, Justin Waters, Mickey Waters, Brandon Waters, Emmett Casey and Justin Casey.

Mr. Waters was born in Beaufort County on April 21, 1956. He was the son of the late Ishmael Sylvester Waters and Annette Boyington Waters. Mr. Waters graduated from Bath High School in 1976 and Beaufort County Technical Institute (now Beaufort County Community College) in 1978. Later, he attended East Carolina University. Mr. Waters served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked at Texas Gulf and Renn Taff before starting East Carolina Plumbing on Nov. 1, 1997. In his spare time, Mr. Waters enjoyed fishing, collecting guns, photographing wildlife and cooking pigs.

On Aug. 8, 2002, Mr. Waters married the former Charlotte Annelies Booth, who survives.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Jonathan Lee Waters and wife Christy, Justin Ray Waters and wife Lynn, all of Washington; two daughters, Ashley Waters, of South Carolina, Christie K. Moyer, of Washington; seven grandchildren, Madison Marie Waters, Noah Linwood Waters, Savannah Nicole Waters, Justin Ray Waters Jr., Brenden Lee Waters, Joseph Waters, Rose Dunmeyer; two brothers, Ricky Waters, Mickey Waters and wife Amy, of Washington; sister, Peggy Waters, of Ohio; four nephews, Brandon, Adam, Codie, Zackery; two nieces, Meghan and Jordan; and son-in-law, Ralph Boyette.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Waters was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Mark Waters.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
