Mrs. Nancy Parnell Jones, age 89, a resident of Brooks Lane, Blounts Creek, died Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Warren Memorial Cemetery, N.C. Highway 33 East, Blounts Creek, conducted by Marty Alligood, Kent Gurganus and William Roberson.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Matt Whitaker, Dalton Rogerson II, Buddy Rogerson, Chip Parnell, Mack Beddard and Jesse Speiser.

Mrs. Jones was born in Forsyth County on April 27, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Alvin Verance Parnell and Onie Pennell Parnell. Mrs. Jones was a retired inspector at Hamilton Beach. She was a member of the Elizabeth Chapel Church of Christ and one of the founders of the Saturday Night Jamboree. Mrs. Jones was a former member of the Washington Moose Lodge and the Washington Motorcycle Club.

Mrs. Jones was married to John Cotton Jones, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Jones is survived by a sister, Ola Deal, of Aurora; brother, Sidney Parnell, of Phoenix, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by an infant son, John Cotton Jones Jr.; four sisters, Bernice Wainwright, Addie Roberson, Elsie Morton, Callie Beddard; and two brothers, Alvin Parnell, Bobby Parnell.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday at the graveside and other times at the home of her niece, Faye Whitaker, 2285 Hollow Pond Road, Williamston.
