The Town of Belhaven declared a state of state of emergency Monday, echoing many of the provisions of North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper’s statewide stay-at-home order. The state of emergency is in effect until April 30.

In addition to ordering Belhaven residents to stay at home, with exceptions for essential services and activities, the state of emergency also closes all lodging facilities in Belhaven where rentals or leases last 60 days or less.

This includes beds and breakfasts, campgrounds, RV parks and short-term rentals. Those already staying in lodging facilities are allowed to stay for the duration of their rental agreements, as long as they do not leave to travel back to their homes and return to complete their rentals.
