Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility/Beaufort County animal shelter is up and running Mondays through Fridays as normal, with the exception of the public coming into the building freely. As with all county facilities, we are accepting visitors for business by appointment only. Saturdays, the shelter will be closed unless an appointment is made before 5 p.m. Friday. Setting an appointment allows our employees to try to answer questions on the phone and screen citizens to make sure they are not experiencing any symptoms of sickness before they come to the shelter. For the shelter specifically, people may call and schedule an appointment to view animals for adoption. These visits will be limited to two people at a time to minimize exposure.

The shelter is located at 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East in Washington. Normal hours open to the public: Mondays through Fridays, by appointment only, 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays, the shelter will be closed unless an appointment is made by 5 p.m. Friday.

Tinksy

Wearing her magnificent, shiny, jet-black coat, Tinksy is a genuine black beauty, complete with huge golden eyes. Listed as approximately 3 years old, this American shorthair is a bit shy at first, but she quickly warms up to be a friendly girl that loves attention. Tinksy will be a wonderful and welcome addition to a loving, good forever home. For more information, see Friends of Beaufort Co. Shelter Cat Page, Tinksy, ID No. 0320. Come visit her, she’s available at the shelter.

Holly

Friendly, loves attention and pretty in her butterscotch and white-accented coat, meet Holly (also listed for a while as Astro). Listed as a large, approximately 2-year-old, pit bull terrier mix, Holly is good with people, but she needs to be the only dog. She will do best with a loving, attentive, active family who will spend time with her, include her in their activities, give plenty of regular exercise/play,  preferably in a fenced area — she walks well on a leash — give her obedience training and, of course, a good forever home. For more, see Facebook’s ENC Shelter Dog Page, Holly, ID No. 0292. Come visit, she’s available at the shelter.
