Mrs. Carolyn “Carrie” Joan Marpes Blue, age 72, a resident of Maurice Court, Cypress Landing, Chocowinity, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, at her home.

Due to COVID restrictions, no service will be held.

Mrs. Blue was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Feb. 29, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Edward Marpes and Margaret Helen Nassif Marpes. Mrs. Blue was a retired seventh grade schoolteacher. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and reading. Mrs. Blue was a member of the Pamlico Quilters Guild, the Cypress Landing Book Club, the Women’s Club of Cypress Landing and the Sunshine Club.

In 1982, she married Alan E. Blue, who survives.

Surviving with her husband are stepdaughter, Christina Cates and fiancé Michael Flynn, of Hudson, N.H.; two sons, Julian Cates and wife Rhiannon, of Hudson, N.H., Zachary Cates, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; two grandchildren, Isabella and Elijah (who is on the way); nephew, Craig Hannamen, of New Hampshire; and brother-in-law, David R. Blue and wife Barbara Ann Blue, of Atlanta, Georgia.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blue was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Hannamen, and a stepson, Billy Ray Blue.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 1209 Brown St., Washington, NC 27889.
