Cynthia “Cindy” “DeeDee” Rae Jones, age 59, a resident of Chocowinity, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2020, at her home.

Per her request, no services will be held.

Cynthia was born in Beaufort County on Dec. 1, 1960, to Cecil Ray Jones and Minnie Jones. She was a 1979 graduate of Chocowinity High School. Cynthia worked as a bus driver for Chocowinity Primary and as a cafeteria worker for Southside High School. She enjoyed going to the beach, shopping, spending time with her family and sitting with the elderly, and treating them as if they were a family member.

Survivors include her mother, Minnie J. Parish and husband John, of Chocowinity; a sister, Dianne Jones Wright and husband Douglas, of Washington; her niece and nephew, Ashley O’Neal, Judson O’Neal; great-nieces and -nephews, Maddy Wright, Beau Wright and Ashlynn Cutler.

She is preceded in death by her father, Cecil Ray Jones.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not receive friends at the home.
