Betty Joann Denton Varni, aged 80, a resident of 205 North Wedgewood Drive, Washington, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020.
A graveside service will be open to the public and will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020, at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington and will be conducted by Pastor Darren Walker. Viewing hours will be private. The family will receive friends following the service and at the home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Randolph H. Varni; daughters, Kathleen Evans, Jennifer Varni, Terry Miller, Connie Cole, Janis McLaughlin; sisters, Tina Brown, Patty Mason, Brenda Hoover, Barbara Luckert; brothers, Gary Parris, Jerry Denton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
“Joann,” as she was referred to by many, was an amazing mother, grandmother and wife. She never met a stranger and her love and compassion for her fellow man made her unforgettable. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored her, as she did them. After a long battle with cancer, she peacefully left her earthly body to rejoice with the Lord. Betty loved flowering plants, as her husband regularly brought her clippings from their gardens for her to enjoy.
With her love for flowers, Betty would be thankful to have flowers for the graveside service to be given in her memory.
