Howard Alfred Lupton, age 85, of Bay City Road, Aurora, passed away Aug. 19, 2020, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

Howard was born in Washington, North Carolina, to Herbert Alfred Lupton and Zilphia Slade Lupton.

He graduated from Washington High School in 1955. Howard served in the Army as a military policeman from April 1957 to April 1959. He retired from Lever Brothers Company in Baltimore, Maryland, and relocated to Lowland, to pursue his dream of commercial fishing. Howard loved being out on the water, and he loved seafood. He also enjoyed remodeling old homes and was known throughout Pamlico County as a great craftsman and painter. Howard spent his last 20 years in Aurora, where he enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, canning and sharing his abundance of homegrown tomatoes, collards and grapes with his family and friends.

Howard is survived by his three daughters, Brenda Lupton Davis and her children with Ted Davis, of Washington; Mary Lupton Godley, spouse Willie Godley, and children, of Washington; and Dianna Lupton Anderson, spouse Eddie Anderson and children, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He is survived by his stepchildren: Foster Vernon “Babe” Watts, Roxanne Watts, and predeceased by Wesley Watts and Troy Watts; 12 grandchildren, Katie, Will, Mitch, Megan and Hunter Godley, Abby Davis, Sophie Davis, Andrea Davis, and Wendy Davis Woolard, Erica Anderson Laney, Blake Anderson, and predeceased by Troy Paul, of Bayboro; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wilmer Lupton.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
