From Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft

Have you ever wanted to learn a new skill such as making jewelry with copper or silver, drawing a landscape, or handbuilding a ceramic cup? Pocosin Arts has a solution for you this summer and fall with fun and engaging at-home craft classes! Simply turn on your computer to join fellow participants, and a Pocosin Arts Instructor will show you how! New, at-home classes are now available for kids and adults and are open to all skill levels.

Starting August 25th, Pocosin Arts will host at-home “Art After School” classes. Participants will receive access to weekly fun and interactive instructional video and a materials kit. An optional meet and greet virtual ZOOM session with the instructors and fellow participants will begin each five-week session. Videos are released every Tuesday for five consecutive weeks. Students are encouraged to send in images to show off their weekly projects for inclusion in the following weeks’ video. The first class topics include; “Exploring Nature Through Art” for ages 6-9, and “Dive Into 2-D Design & Create a Visual Journal” for ages 10-18. Additional topics will be offered throughout the school year.

Introductory three and four-week classes are available to adults in metalsmithing and ceramics. These classes meet weekly and are live through the ZOOM video platform, allowing participants to interact with each other and the instructor. Classes include materials and are very affordable. Toolboxes for metalsmithing are available for loan upon request. “Intro to Metalsmithing” begins September 14th, and “Intro to Ceramics” starts on September 8th.

If you are new to ZOOM, Pocosin will help you get set up over-the-phone, Monday through Friday between 9 am and 5 pm. Need help with tuition? Pocosin’s got that! Scholarships are available for all at-home ZOOM classes.
