William Derrick Coltrain of Charleston, South Carolina, formerly of Washington, passed away on Aug. 12, 2020.

A service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020, at Yankee Hall, 3332 Yankee Hall Road, Greenville. The family will be receiving friends and family at other times at the home of his aunt, Kim Douglas, 513 Bigg Road, Washington.

Derrick was born in Washington on Nov. 20, 1982, to Cindy and Gary Coltrain. Derrick was currently working in construction with C.R. Hipp Construction Company at the VA Hospital in South Carolina. He was a skillful carpenter and plumber. He enjoyed designing different wood construction projects. He also enjoyed fishing, writing music and spending time with his family and his children.

Derrick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Johnnie and Argie O’Neal and Grady Coltrain and Elsie B. Kostyal, and his stepfather, Richard “Rick” Jobe. He is survived by his mother, Cindy Jobe, of Washington; his father, Gary Coltrain, of Hampton, Virginia; his children, Clay Coltrain, Savannah Coltrain, Haleigh Coltrain; his sister, Denise C. Price and husband Jake Price, of Greenville; nephew, Cameron Woolard, of Greenville; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Derrick always had a smile on his face and love in his in heart for everyone he met.
