Mrs. Celia Ann Edwards Harding, age 81, a resident of Chocowinity, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020, at her home, with family at her side.

A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, officiated by Pastor Phillip Hayes.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Harding was born in Beaufort County on Oct. 3, 1938, daughter of the late John Robert Edwards Sr. and the late Mimcie Mills Edwards. She was a graduate of Chocowinity High School and continued her education at East Carolina College, where completed she her bachelor’s degree in business education.

On Oct. 19, 1957, she married William Robert “Bobby” Harding, who preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1998. She and her family worshiped at Second Baptist Church of Washington. Mrs. Harding worked at several places, but her love for family led her to be a homemaker. She volunteered at Vidant Beaufort Hospital and enjoyed the activities at the Senior Citizen Center of Washington.

Survivors include her children, Robert Blake Harding and his wife, Connie, and Sue H. Gurley and her husband, Dennis, all of Chocowinity; two sisters, Jane Worsley, of Washington, and Madlyn Perry, of Chocowinity; a beloved brother-in-law, Bobby Perry, of Chocowinity; and four grandchildren, Taylor Diane Harding, of Aberdeen, Christopher Allen Lemay and his wife, C.J., of Washington, Robert Blake Lemay, of Chocowinity, and Miels Jacob Lemay, of Danville, Illinois. She was predeceased along with her parents by a brother, John Robert Edwards Jr., brother-in-law William “Billy” Worsley and a sister-in-law, Janie Rawls Edwards.
