Mrs. Gladys Hodges Roberson, age 96, a resident of West Bear Grass Road, Williamston, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2020, at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, conducted by Reggie Braziel and Thomas Hamilton.

Her grandsons, granddaughter, Rusty Roberson, Sammy B. Hodges and Milton E. Hodges will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Roberson was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 13, 1924. She was the daughter of the late George H. Hodges and Lucy C. Hardison Hodges. Mrs. Roberson graduated from Washington High School in 1942. She was a homemaker and was a part-time tax lister for the Beaufort County tax office for 45 years. Mrs. Roberson was a member of the Old Ford Church of Christ and the Old Ford Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary.

On Dec. 10, 1943, she married Eli Hoyt Roberson Jr., who preceded her in death, June 29, 1988.

Mrs. Roberson is survived by her son, Eli Hoyt “Robby” Roberson III and wife Enid, of Williamston; daughter, Dana R. Jurgens and husband William, of Yorktown, Virginia; four grandchildren, Joseph “Joey” Roberson, Robb Roberson, Karen Davidson, Michael Jurgens; 10 great-grandchildren, Joseph Hoyt Roberson Jr., Ina Patrick Roberson, Mary Kate Roberson, Charles Roberson, Kyndall Seger, Jaydan Roberson, Cole Jurgens, Hunter Jurgens, Alayna Davidson, Calder Davidson; sister, Doris H. Byrd, of Greenville; and two brothers, James H. Hodges and Milton E. Hodges, both of Washington.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Roberson was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie H. Hickman, Gladys Pauline Hodges; and three brothers, Paul Hodges, George H. Hodges Jr., Durwood L. Hodges.

The family will receive friends at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Enid Roberson, 1308 West Bear Grass Road, Williamston.
