COVID-19: state stats at a glance

Total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Beaufort County numbered 1,127 Monday. There are now 127 active cases in the county, and nine people are hospitalized, according to the Monday update from Beaufort County Emergency Services and Beaufort County Health Department.

According to the update, 972 of the 1,127 total positive cases have recovered from the virus; 28 Beaufort County residents have died due to complications from the virus.

The total number of cases that have been confirmed in the U.S. rose from 7416,126 Sunday to 7,436,207 Monday; these numbers include 2,911,734 people in the U.S. presumed recovered from COVID-19. The U.S. has the highest total number of cases worldwide; worldwide, there have been 35,319,139 confirmed cases. Nationwide, 209,938 deaths have been attributed to the virus, an increase of 151 overnight.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in North Carolina continued to rise from 217,496 Sunday to 219,728 Monday. There have been 3,637 deaths in the state attributed to the virus, an increase of three overnight. The state currently has 971 COVID-19 associated hospitalizations and 192,644 people are presumed recovered from the virus in North Carolina.

Eastern North Carolina counties total COVID-19 cases as of Monday numbered (does not include number of recovered): Bertie (627), Beaufort (1,127), Bladen (944), Brunswick (1,741), Carteret (794), Camden (121), Chowan (396), Columbus (1,429), Craven (1,819), Currituck (194); Dare (289), Duplin (2,492), Edgecombe (1,487), Gates (146), Greene (702), Halifax (1,095), Hertford (801), Hyde (145), Jones (162), Lenoir (1,065), Martin (512), New Hanover (4,481), Northampton (486), Onslow (2,378), Pamlico (273), Pasquotank (746), Pender (1,047), Perquimans (196), Pitt (5,133), Sampson (2,331), Tyrrell (116), Washington (219), Wayne (3,582) and Wilson (2,374). Guilford (9,153), Mecklenburg (29,593) and Wake (18,345) counties have the most cases in North Carolina.

There had been 16,196 tests completed in Beaufort County as of Monday, with 1,127 positives. Since March, 65 COVID-19-related hospitalizations have occurred in the county.

Cumulative numbers include tests performed at the health department and reporting private medical facilities through the county.

The update reminded county residents to “practice the Three W’s:” wear face coverings, wait six feet apart and wash your hands often.
