One active COVID-19 case in Tyrrell

Three new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Tyrrell County last week, Wes Gray, health director for MTW District Health Department, stated Sunday night.

That brought the county’s total cases since last spring to 134, with 130 recoveries and three deaths, leaving one active case as opposed to five active cases a week earlier.

Martin County reported 688 positive cases overall, 614 recoveries and 19 deaths, leaving 55 active cases.

Washington County reported 272 total cases, 237 recoveries, eight deaths, with 27 active cases at week’s end.

As of Oct. 28, 24.7% of Tyrrell’s population had been tested for the coronavirus, 37.8% of Martin’s inhabitants, and 47.8% of Washington County’s residents.

Recent counts show 276,692 total cases of COVID-19 in North Carolina, with 4,383 deaths and 231,611 recoveries.

The U.S. figures are 9.5 million cases confirmed, 236,471 deaths, and 6.1 million recoveries.

Worldwide estimates are 46.8 million total cases, 1.2 million deaths, and 33.7 million recoveries.
