Mr. Ottis Gray Sheppard, age 89, a native of Beaufort County, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, at his home in Ocala, Florida.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. A graveside service will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington.

Mr. Sheppard was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 11, 1931. He was the son of the late James Evans Sheppard and Katie Nancy Cox Sheppard. Mr. Sheppard graduated from Washington High School in 1949. Mr. Sheppard enlisted in the Air Force in 1951. He was a retired residential contractor. Mr. Sheppard was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Air Force Sergeant’s Association. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club and the Moose Lodge. In his spare time, Mr. Sheppard enjoyed traveling and playing golf.

Mr. Sheppard is survived by his wife, Karen, of the home; two sons, Ottis Gray Sheppard Jr. and wife Amber, James A Sheppard and wife Georgie, all of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Marcia Campbell and husband Ernie, of Lincoln, Nebraska; stepson, Craig Davis, of Ocala, Florida; stepdaughter, Carisa Davis, of Fords, New Jersey; grandson, Shane Sheppard; granddaughter, Grayce Sheppard; great-grandson, Ryan Sheppard; step-grandsons, Aaron Davis and Max Cucchiaro; and step-granddaughter, Darcy Cucchiaro.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sheppard was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
