Mrs. Dorothy Harris Respess, age 89, a resident of 1984 Beaver Dam Road, Pinetown, died Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the home of her sister.

A graveside service was held 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Marty Alligood. Her nephews Richard Boyd, Jeffery Boyd, Jim Lamb, Glenn Mercer, Larry Ingalls and Reid Lassiter served as pallbearers. The family received friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Respess was born in Beaufort County on August 6, 1931, daughter of the late Delma Thomas Harris and Irene Swindell Harris. On February 12, 1950, she married Carlton H. Respess, who preceded her in death on March 3, 1999. Mrs. Respess was employed for 12 years as an inspector with Washington Garment Company. She was a member of Pinetown Church of Christ. She loved to garden, fish and be with her family.

Mrs. Respess is survived by her son Jerry W. Respess of Pinetown and her sisters Verna H. Boyd and Lois H. Mercer, both of Washington.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son C.H. Respess,  her sister Helen H. Boyd and her brother Thomas “Tommy” Harris, Jr..
