Lois Lane Elks, 85, of Williamston, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 23, 2020.
Lois was born in Beaufort County on February 1, 1935 to Nola and Coley Lane. After graduating from Washington High School, she married Wayland Elks. They moved their family to Williamston. She was a homemaker, active member of First Christian Church, and a member of the Williamston Lioness Club. Along with teaching Sunday School, serving as a circle leader, being a boy and girl scout leader, she always found time to be a “cheerleader” at everything in which her children or grandchildren were involved.
She was predeceased by her husband Wayland Elks, her parents Nola and Coley Lane, her brothers Cecil and Ray Lane, and great granddaughter Lila Grace Watson.
Survivors include her daughter Wanda Johnson and husband Phillip of Williamston; sons Jimmy Elks and wife Charlotte of Williamston and Cecil Elks and wife Jennifer of Robersonville; grandchildren Shelly Elks, James Elks III, Jessica E. Watson (Matt), and Sara E. Linkous (Jonathan), and great grandchildren Samuel and Barrett Watson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, November 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Memorial Gardens. Family requests that all attending the service wear masks due to COVID-19. You may visit with the family following the service or at other times at her daughter’s home, 2101 Big Mill Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Kitchen Fund of First Christian Church, 101 E. Liberty Street, Williamston, NC 27892.
