Mrs. Cynthia Lou Elks Crisp, age 69, a resident of Washington, NC, died Monday December 14, 2020 at Vidant Medical Center of Greenville.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private memorial service for the family will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Crisp was born in Beaufort County on October 2, 1951 daughter of the late William “Chester” Elks Sr., and the late Doris Coleen Edwards Elks.  She was a graduate of Washington High School.  On June 11, 1980 she married William Bernis “Bernie” Crisp, Jr. who preceded her in death on May 15, 2010.  She was a retired optical technician having worked at the former Eastern Optical in Washington for many years.  Mrs. Crisp has gone to heaven where she has joined her husband who she loved and missed very much. She was an avid reader who loved animals and was self-reliant and had a kind spirit.

Survivors include her son: William B. Crisp III of Chocowinity, who she dearly loved; a brother William “Bill” Elks, Jr. (Sandra) of Chandler, NC; two sisters: Renee Elks Young (Lewis) of Washington and Suzanne Elks Moore of Washington, who she made her home with; a grandson: Ethan Allen Crisp; three nieces: Ginny Boyer, Catherine Suzanne Moore and Maddy Young; a nephew: Graham Young; two great nephews: Ollie & Jack Boyer and two beloved dogs: Harry & Cooper.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to the Cynthia Crisp Memorial Fund, P.O. Box1465, Washington, NC 27889 or the charity of one’s choice.
