Beaufort County records 59th COVID-19 death

Beaufort County reported its 59th COVID-19-related death Wednesday, along with 50 new cases of COVID-19 — the county’s third-highest single-day case count ever — and 40 recoveries.

County health officials know of 359 active cases of COVID-19 among Beaufort County residents. Thirteen of those individuals are hospitalized. All active cases are self-isolating, according to an update from Beaufort County Office of Emergency Services and Beaufort County Health Department.

Beaufort County’s total confirmed cases is 2,303. Of those cases, 1,845 have recovered from the coronavirus.

North Carolina reported 5,609 new COVID-19 cases and 69 deaths Wednesday.

Eastern North Carolina counties with total confirmed cases include: Bertie, (1,141), Beaufort (2,303), Bladen (1,691), Brunswick (4,026), Carteret (2,488), Camden (259), Chowan (768), Columbus (3,327), Craven (4,721), Currituck (579), Dare (898), Duplin (3,973), Edgecombe (3,071), Gates (329), Greene (1,469), Halifax (2,628), Hertford (1,264), Hyde (250), Jones (369), Lenoir (3,000), Martin (1,205), New Hanover (8,961), Northampton (988), Onslow (7,962), Pamlico (503), Pasquotank (1,537), Pender (2,513), Perquimans (475), Pitt (10,490) Sampson (4,592), Tyrrell (162), Washington (393), Wayne (7,010) and Wilson (5,162). Mecklenburg (57,755), Wake (39,487), Guilford (22,681), Forsyth (18,979), Gaston (14,056) and Durham (13,919) counties have the most cases.
