Washington native Bailey Gerard recently released a song entitled ‘Miss my Momma’ in tribute to her mother and her hometown of Washington.

Gerard, who now resides in Nashville, Tennessee and attends Lipscomb University, grew up in Washington and has been interested in music from a very young age. At only age 20, she is already a talented vocalist, guitarist and songwriter.

“She has wanted to be a performer since the first time she heard Shania Twain at age two. She has worked very hard and is fortunate to be surrounded by so many talented songwriters and musicians in Nashville,” said  her mother, Laura Gerard, a Washington real estate agent.

Bailey Gerard wrote ‘Miss my Momma’ with Cordell Bay and Michael Mullins for a school assignment. Bailey said she was not planning to release the song but posted it as a Christmas gift to her mother after insistence from professors and friends.

“Bailey had recorded a personal video version just for me, with clips and pictures of the two of us throughout the years,” Laura Gerard said. “She asked me to look at something on her computer and played the video. It took me a second to process that it was about me.”

Gerard pays homage to her Washington roots throughout the song. She was inspired to write ‘Miss my Momma’ while missing the comfort and familiarity of Beaufort County during her time in Nashville .

“I think this song is a reflection of how many of us feel right now during this crazy time. Most people can relate to missing something they took for granted just one year ago,” said Laura Gerard.

Bailey got her start as an artist in Washington. Some of her first performances were held at various venues throughout the downtown area and she is incredibly thankful for the support from the community.

“There’s just been so many people in Washington with arms wide open who have helped shape me into the girl I am now,” said Bailey Gerard. “I wouldn’t have been able to perform if it wouldn’t have been for them.

The official music video for ‘Miss my Momma’, produced by Ines Lopez, is available on Bailey Gerard’s YouTube channel, Bailey Gerard Music, and features Joey Liechty on guitar. The video has been up for just over a week and has already amassed over 1,200 views and 21 likes on the video sharing platform.

“The response has been so good. When I put it out, I was expecting maybe 300 views and within three days, I had 1,000 views,” said Bailey Gerard. “I did not expect that and it makes me feel so good.”
