A new leaf
ReLeaf Washington teamed up with Open Door Community Center to plant four white oaks to shade and beautify its new playground. Open Door Community Center provides shelter and referral services to women and children experiencing homelessness. ReLeaf Washington works with local governments and nonprofits to plant, promote and protect trees. That same day, the group planted trees at Washington Park and Beaufort County Community College, totalling 14 trees in one day. ReLeaf is continually looking for new sites to expand the canopy around Washington, with a goal of planting one thousand trees by 2030.
