Beaufort County reported 12 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, raising its total case count to 3,981. Health officials now know of 395 active cases of COVID-19 among county residents.

Wednesday’s report from the Beaufort County Office of Emergency Services and Beaufort County Health Department also showed that 22 more county residents had recovered from the virus. In total, 3,509 Beaufort County residents have recovered from COVID-19.

Eighteen county residents are currently hospitalized with COVID-19.

North Carolina reported 12,079 cases and 169 COVID-19-related deaths Wednesday.

“The number of new COVID-19 cases reported for North Carolina today includes a large number of cases from tests performed at FastMed Urgent Care clinics during December 2020 and January 2021 that had not been previously reported,” a press release from the Beaufort County Health Department says. “These delays account for 7,912 of today’s 12,079 Positive cases. It is important to note this delay in reporting did not impact patient notifications or care from FastMed.”

Eastern North Carolina counties with total confirmed cases include: Bertie, (1,545), Beaufort (3,981), Bladen (2,672), Brunswick (6,788), Carteret (3,906), Camden (474), Chowan (1,236), Columbus (5,277), Craven (7,322), Currituck (1,130), Dare (1,719), Duplin (5,331), Edgecombe (4,124), Gates (556), Greene (1,995), Halifax (4,622), Hertford (1,819),  Hyde (594), Jones (607), Lenoir (4,808), Martin (1,896), New Hanover (14,060), Northampton (1,589), Onslow (13,351), Pamlico (776), Pasquotank (2,742), Pender  (4,159), Perquimans (778), Pitt (15,718) Sampson (6,182), Tyrrell (268) Washington  (810), Wayne (9,517) and Wilson (7,628). Mecklenburg (88,055), Wake (66,959), Guilford (36,020) counties have the most cases.
