Funeral services were held for Audrey Ardoin Douget, 92, at the LaVille Funeral Home Chapel, 2353 East Main Street, at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021, in Ville Platte, Louisiana. Prior to the funeral service, a rosary was recited at 12:30 p.m. Burial followed in the Evangeline Memorial Mausoleum.

A native of Eunice, Louisiana., Mrs. Douget died at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, Louisiana. She was a resident of Ville Platte, Louisiana since 1965. Prior to that, the family lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where Mrs. Douget supplemented the family income by working nights at Bailey’s Drug Store as a pharmacy assistant. She was considered to be a very good cook and a good friend by many. She was also an avid reader. Family was most important to Mrs. Douget. She and her husband, Haudry “Chico” Douget, operated several successful businesses, including Red and Dot’s Drive Inn, Bobby’s Drive Inn, and Douget’s Drive Inn in the 1960’s through the 1980’s, all located in Ville Platte, Louisiana. They provided local teenagers with bonfires for football games and entertained with the latest hits on the jukebox, pinball machines, and wonderful food, including their famous old-fashioned hamburgers, chili pies, fried pickles, onion rings, and blue bubblegum ice cream. She loved Cajun music and loved to dance. 

She is survived by her children, Diana Miller (Howell) of Washington, North Carolina, Sandy DeVille (Rocky) of Lafayette, La., Roxanne Durio (Albert) of Opelousas, La., Chris Douget (Lynn) of Ville Platte, La., and Chad Douget of Ville Platte, La., 16 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chico Douget, her granddaughter, Brittany Douget, her parents, Thomas Ardoin and Blanche Bourgeois Ardoin, brother J.D. Ardoin and wife, Winnie, and nephew, David Ardoin.
